This budget edition has also been mastered from from a VHS videotape copy of a natural-speed video transfer that has been masked by the bottom of the picture to hide the charactistic video mistracking that usually appears at the bottom of a VHS picture. The print is dark in places and OK in other, but it is the low-resolution of the source VHS videotape that makes this disc with its smeary picture details so hard to watch.
The film is accompanied by the silent serial’s original synchronized music and sound effects soundtrack.
This edition is not recommended. Alpha Video producers would have been well advised to locate film-based source material and create a new video transfer rather than use old VHS tapes to master this disc. Also, Alpha Video don’t be cheap! Release a film of this length on two DVDs instead of overcompressing the video information to squeeze it onto one disc.
